Political Overkill in the Philly burbs

Two candidates, one day, one household. NINE mailings!

There’s a serious need for better informatics in the election world. Maybe there’s a market out there for Voter Relation Management software. (Anybody want to start a company?)

There is no need for a voter who votes in EVERY election; who is an elected member of his party committee; who has written a letter to the editor against you or who has canvassed door-to-door with your candidate to be on your list for persuasion calls or election day reminders.

Today there were NINE pieces of mail in our mailbox on behalf of Tom Gannon and Bryan Lentz. Gannon always sends us double mailings because my wife kept her last name. So that makes six different items in one day. I find it all amusing, but I know that most voters are getting fatigued, if not downright annoyed.

For those who don\’t know, the race mentioned in this post is for a state house seat. Think of that…9 pieces in a day for a state representative seat.

For what it’s worth, I know that at least two of the Lentz pieces were not supposed to hit that day. That said, the postal service is so overloaded this campaign season, that timing when mailings hit is a very inexact science.

When we hand out literature around here, we don’t drop at houses we know are on our side or at houses who aren’t (i.e. elected officials of the Republican party). We figure why wasted the paper.

  4. Democrat

Democrats always need reminding to vote…

Plus unless you’re paid by campaigns up and down the ticket or a 24 hour volunteer…people don’t know who you are.

I’m campaign manager for the democrat running in the 165th. I also am a committee person and I am the legislative co-ordinator for the 165th, and I am constantly getting calls to volunteer for Sestak. I just got one today asking if I still wanted to be a poll watcher. “…”

    It’s insane

The 165? I wish Larry Healy well. It would be great to end up with a labor voice in the G.A. I thought that the Delco Times endorsement of Adolph was one of their lamest, most intellectually underwhelming of the bunch.
